Checking In

Well its July 2015 and time to start updating this blog on a regular basis. We've been busy little Bees getting our new Ramstein Location up and running. The place where we used to be (we called it "The Shack" as it was just a small cabin on a lot!) next to Ramstein Air Base main gate, got closed down by The City as they didn't want a business on the corner of the roundabout. We were sad to leave there and didn't want to go, but as luck would have it, we found an old video store in the village, signed a contract, renovated it for 4 months and turned it into a very nice car dealership! Below are some pics:

Due to the recent PCS season where a lot of people return back to the USA after their tour, a lot of people were selling their vehicles that they couldn't take home, so we are packed to the roof with vehicles right now! Last cound was 103 spread over 4 locations in the area, so there are loads of cars to choose from. :)

Its been a while...

Its been a while since I last updated this log! April was our last post..... oops. I guess time flies when you are having fun.

Its been a busy few months and The Used Car Guys have grown since then, Our Spangdahlem location is up and running, we have a second place in Kaiserslautern/ E-hoff and our team has expanded. Fun times!

We are now on the run up to Christmas/ end of year. The weather is starting to take a turn and so we will be loading up with more 4x4 SUV's and sedans. Last year the winter was very mild in the KMC area, so maybe this year we might see some more snow. As a keen skier I love the snow so bring it on!

One of the best things about living in Germany is the ability to get to the Alps in the winter. Its just a few hours drive to get to Garmisch (Germanys biggest ski resort) and then only 45 mins or so to get to one of the big Austrian resorts. Our first ski trip is planned for Thanksgiving weekend - we are off to Stubai in Tirol for a long weekend. Cant wait!

If you are in the KMC and would like to hit the slopes but dont know where to start, it might be a good idea to hook up with a ski club. The Used Car Guys sponsor The Tannenbaum Ski Club; they are based in the Kaiserslautern / Ramstein area and have up to 50 planned trips a year! They arrange everything from transportation to rental, accommodation - the works. And they love to party too! :)

Good news for people in the Spangdahlem area!

We are very happy to announce that we now have a location outside of the KMC area! We have teamed up with Capitol Motors (they sell new US Spec Volvos) in Spangdahlem and will be sharing their location to bring quality pre-owned vehicles to the Spangdahlem community.

The Used Car Guys are expanding!

Its been a while since we updated our news section. Lots of things have been going on, but I guess we have been too busy to keep this section up to date! But we do have some good news to share – we are expanding our business in the KMC area! Next to our flagship showroom in Einsiedlerhof there is a car lot that we have signed for and will be taking over from Feb-March 2014. The lot has space for up to 40 cars and it will be a great addition to our business. We have a new Independent Sales Consultant who will be representing us there – his name is Nathan Grady. Nathan used to work for Audi/ VW Military sales and is a qualified mechanic, so knows a thing or two about cars.

We hope to be up and running by March 1st and will keep you posted!

September... a good month!

So its now September - where has the year gone? Happy to say that we now have both our locations in Kasierslautern and Ramstein up and running and fully operational. Currently we have around 40 quality used cars in stock, so hopefully there is something for everyone!

And it looks like September is going to be another warm month which is nice. Weather forecasts predict up to 30C / 86F for the next week, which will be great! Nothing like a long summer....

If you are looking for something to do in the area this September, check out the Bad Dürkheim "Wurstmarkt!" Not sure why its called the Wurstmarkt (sausage market in German) as its the worlds biggest wine fest! Think Oktoberfest but with wine instead of beer! Well its not actually as crazy as the Oktoberfest but there is a great atmosphere there and its only half an hour away from Ramstein Air Base. Just follow the A6 towards Mannheim and you will come across signs for Bad Dürkheim. It starts this weekend and is on from 6-10 and then 13-16 September. You can see loads of info here:

Ramstein location opens Monday July 15th!

We are very happy to announce that the Ramstein location will be fully open again for business on Monday July 15th! The newest Used Car Guy to the team is Joe Sorel, and Joe will be open at 0930-1800 Monday to Friday, and 1000-1500 on Saturdays.

Joe is ex-US Military and has lived in Germany for a number of years. He is still in the Reserves and knows lots about cars. We think he will be a great asset to our team!

Incoming Cars April/ May

Sometimes in the car business, one minute you have a full lot, then you sell some cars and the lot looks empty. So you buy a load more cars and get full again! Its a constant merry-go-round of buying and selling!
